A moment of magic on a rainy Sunday

Last Sunday I'd been to watch a film and was on my way home sitting on a bus. As we came into the town where I live, the sky to the left of me was clear and sunny and to the right of me was dark and threatening.

My only thought at that moment was how fast I could get home before it rained because the side of the town the sky was threatening was where I was headed.

Off the bus, walking across the market place, I felt the first drops of rain and quickened my pace. Hemmed in by buildings I didn't look upwards till I rounded a corner and saw...

A rainbow, but not just any old rainbow but a double rainbow.

The rain had intensified but I was rooted to the spot. In my imagination I could see the end of the rainbow on the right hand side landing exactly where my house stood.

Magic. A moment of pure magic. I stood soaking up the colours till the rain increased in ferocity and moved me on.

When I reached home I rushed into the garden but the perspective was different and not only had the second image disappeared but the first was fading quickly.

Here's an image of a double rainbow - not the one I saw because I didn't even think to get out my mobile phone and take the picture!

Of course in my memory the one I saw had deeper colours, was more magical etc etc.

I knew I couldn't but it felt like I could reach out and touch it.

Now this magic moment I couldn't have missed but the change in perspective when I got home and couldn't see the same thing as well, did make me wonder how often we miss magic because we don't widen our view.
