It's a book of poems and Nan C Merrill explains in the introduction how the book came about.
I decided to start reading a poem a day as the basis for reflection and chose one last Monday that I intended to read at the healing circle I host each month. At the last minute I changed my mind and chose a different one, a meditation on the breath.
To be honest I had no idea why I changed my mind until one of our group asked if she could read something for us. Her contribution was about breathing in Christ light and it completely complemented my second choice which was about the breath of life.
Given also that I'd spent three weeks steeped in conversations about meditation, self-enquiry and silence, these words really spoke to me.
'As you breathe in silence,
your ear attunes to spirit.'
